Fighting for child support?
Let him be
Nasty court battles, endless queues in the police family protection unit, frustrating family meetings, bitter phone calls, name it are not anybody’s idea of fun. Certainly not for the child who has been abandoned by his/her father.
When a man decides to walk out on a woman after sharing such an amazing gift like a child, there is only one thing that can be said about him. He is not worth any more of your time!
While walking out emotionally may be the best option at the time, it is impossible to understand why a man abandons his child financially.
It goes without saying that because a man and woman have a child together, both parents are supposed to cater for the child’s well being, especially the men, given their natural and social position as bread winners.
But a man who shrugs off responsibility as an act of defiance spells irrationality and disinterest. After everything you have been through in a relationship, if a man can fail to appreciate the physical result, why on earth would any woman want to force the commitment?
Pregnancy is an experience only a woman can describe; the morning sickness, insatiable appetite or lack of appetite in spite of hunger, and worst of all losing that shapely body, not to forget all the moods and other stress factors that accompany the process.
Then finally, that indescribable labour pain which, fortunately gives you a wonderful child. Court or family battles can negatively affect the innocent child who will probably keep wondering why his/her parents cannot stop fighting about money.
As a mother, a child’s happiness is your priority, so if it means sacrificing that extra money so be it.When he decides to walk away, let him go, especially if you are in position to cater for the child financially. Luckily, today, women are capable of earning a living and fending for themselves. Thank God for women emancipation and the global wave of independent women.
Why should one spend hours and days reporting to police stations or courts, fighting for childcare? Not only is it frustrating but also emotionally draining. If he does not want to help out, then he does not even deserve to be referred to as a father let alone be recognised as one.
The sooner he is scraped off the privileged list of relatives the better. Letting a man be, may just be the way to make him more responsible although it will take time - the guilt will finally eat him up.
Stories of men finally coming in to forge friendships and offer help are not new. And when he finally does come round, you will not care anyway. The fact that you can do it without him will always give you a feeling of triumph, and hopefully fuel his envy!
Every day of your life should be energised with the feeling that you can provide for your child, irrespective of the man’s financial assistance
