This friendship thingy

Women and their friends are one enigmatic thing. They will love them to death and yet may willingly betray them over the pettiest things in life to the great things. Right from gossiping about them, spilling all their secrets or worse, sleeping with their man. It’s no wonder people look at female friendship with such skeptism.

But anyhow, what I really want to say is that friendship is not such an easy thing to maintain. I often joke with my gals that it is quite expensive because you must pay for it everyday of your life with undefined currency. Talking to her when you are not in the mood, hanging out with her even when you would rather be making out with the cute bloke who fills up your inbox with raunchy text messages, lending her those shoes or outfit that cost you a fortune.

She gets to use your perfume, lotion and all those small but valuable things you cherish. For some reason, you just can’t keep a secret from her even if you promise yourself that this time; you are not going to share the intimate details of your life with her. And when she pisses you off, the tension of who will make the first move to apologize is just not funny.

But with all the paying you must do, comes a worthy gift I must admit- her love and the comfort of knowing that you have someone to share all your sad and happy moments, lean on and turn to if you want to go window-shopping on a broke day, beat the sales on a fair day or just empty your wallets on a rainy day.

Some one to hold you as you cry about the loser who broke your heart or when the weight of life’s stress at work, home or school are heavy on your shoulders. One to tell you that you are great when you achieve that goal you worked so hard for. I mean, friends are awesome. This is why even when you break their hearts daily consciously or unconsciously, it feels like a dagger slowly piercing your heart.

And sure we all do crazy things that hurt our friends.
But the moments that really suck are when what you are about to do ideally is good for her but will cause her tremendous pain. I am talking times like when her man starts cheating and yours truly is told about it.

Can’t people just spare me the burden of such information, you think to yourself as you toss in your bed at night, after a night out with her by the way. A night when you drunk lots of alcohol, danced your heels off, stole glances at some chick’s cute boyfriend, shelled some losers who wanted to come over to your table, flirted with a cute guy and generally talked about everything but the fact that you know for sure that her man is having it on the side.

Boy I hate such moments. You ponder on how to break it down to her with out sounding so mean but you know whatever way you do it, she’s gona be hurt. Then the next time you see her, she tells you of his wonderful text and how he told her that they should set a kwangula date.Oh boy! oh boy and all this time you know that he has had two other girl friends where he lives
(Out of town).

Such is the dilemma of life. Its pretty simple just tell her you may think. But stories of people who have been excommunicated by friends and accused to having nugu for telling on a cheating boyfi are not new. So here it is.

What do you do when you are sure that your friend’s man’s is cheating? Guys is this hard when you know your boy’s woman is cheating?

yii jas! those were supposed to be my boots!

kati duksey, this is one of those qns we shall forever ask.

According to me,just spill'em beans. if uze meant to remain friends, she'l get mad, throw u out for a bit and reconcile. If she dont, chalk it up to one of life's twists.

    Simple.

    Duksey,
for guys... well it's a whole different story!
Infact i should drop a post about it!

it all depends on how "deeply" he felt for her...

But your story sounds so much for chics.
    eh!

Argh. It's the girl friendship thingy, not just the friendship thingy. Guys are a bit different, and that is okay. But me, I'd rather have only girls as friends. They are the deeper kind, you know. :o) Then again, my problem may be that I am not gay.

    Meanwhile, pass that hug over.

That's a hug for Duksey, by the way, if my art failed me.

@27th C i dont think your art failed but it doesn't look like a hug just something else.lol

Women drama gggrrrrhhhhh. For me its quite simple- i always ask at the beginning of a friendship.

Would you want to know if your man was cheating. So i have two types of friends - those who do and those who dont but there's the ones i'd rather not tell cos too much drama will unfold (he said, she said drama)

I have a no-secrets policy with all my girlfriends and I honor it to the tee. You love the girl, you tell the girl, you stand by the girl even if your honesty works against you. My closest friendships have developed from trials like this and are now stronger than ever.

P.S.: Please don't tag. It's like that horrible chain mail thingy. Join me in stopping the ish!

    tag, tag, tag, tag . . .
And the chant goes on. If I had to tell about friends amd men, my drama would be a soapie. So, I sieve and tell those I can and who won't be pissed. And the rest I let them be happy in their ignorance. It's life. I been through a lot.
