Supergluing on winners

(ok ma pips,am back in blogville, pass on the gossip i missed especially the Bbh)

Lately it's been hard to recognise myself, thanks to my newfound love for 22 men chasing a ball on the pitch. And more shocking is the fact that it's not even the celebrated David Beckham or Rio Ferdinand but our own breed of local stars who have got me all jittery.(though I must confess I think Julian Ferdinand the dad is so much hotter than Rio. Have you seen his chin and body wow!)

As if by a finger snap I know the names, history and generally you name it and I am your woman. Unfortunately I cannot predict the life span of this newfound interest, which apparently I am not the only victim of.

Corporate organisations, prominent sports fans and even your next-door neighbour, who prior to the Nigeria-Uganda match, would rather spend thousands on a beer watching the Premier league than his local team free, is now Uganda's biggest fan.
It was amazing to see the Uganda Cranes up their status signing autographs and being ambassadors of good causes.

Reading the low down life story of the team in the sports commentaries was even more amusing. Truly a rags to riches story, only that the riches part seems yet to materialise.
Which brings me to ask. Does success make us better people? Just because I excelled in a number of things, will I become more attractive? Or will I just be the same old person from Kawempe and Bwaise's swamped corners.

Misery they say, loves company, so allow me add that, company this time, loves success. Human nature is indeed an enigma, sudden success is bound to carry one from the depth of loath and distaste to acceptance and admiration. This newfound glory is no doubt opening doors for the team that once rented socks from second hand traders in Owino market for lack of a better option.

Little wonder the rich and famous are often surrounded by many wannabe friends and acquaintances. Look around you and count the number of people who suddenly want to be associated with you now that you have won an admirable contract, got a promotion won an award or generally succeeded in anyway.

It would be nice to do a before and after analysis, you will be surprised. For those yet to reach the realms of success, how about doing your before story right now so that you can compare the notes when you finally get on the after track.
And for you who is readily waiting to flock the successful, shame on you.

Winners have magnets.....just like the ones bad boys have. And all good girls fall hard for them. Or it's the iron in the blood that is drawn by the magnet.

Duksey, I see u're back from yo (maternity) leave. Welcome back! Lol

As Cheri says like a moth to a flame around a successful person there shall always be a group buzzing around hoping some of it will rub off on them. I also wish to be around successful upwardly mobile people...at least they are my true friends...knew them from way back when we were in college...nothing wrong in that.

`The rich man hath many friends, but the poor man is alone.' - Proverbs something:something.

Anyway, yeah. So, it is better to build friendships before stuff goes well. Those are the real ones.

by the time i didn't watch the cranes' match against Nigeria, you can tell, that no amount of persuasion would make me a football fan let alone a cranes fan. but i did think beckham was cute back them. i guess i grew up a little.

hmm interesting. We only allowed Uganda to beat us in the spirit of African brotherhood so don't count on it next time when the Green Eagles come cruising around east coast of africa.

    Nice blog you have here.

@sage;ha shaa you want to kula me.Unless you assure me of a bmw x5 then i ll rush back drop ma offertory

@ aegeus;no prob is they were your friends, but there is a kind tht becomes your friend over nite.Ironical thing is while people wana get the success rubbed on them,u can imagine wat the successful ple feel.Hanging with the underdogs!!!

@tandra;the trick is to wait for an over hyped match and cling to first timers also not the religious fans that way you can comfortably enjoy the ignorance and jst have fun.

@iwaya;But you...you will need superglue to keep this one inside your mouth,or possibly a bribe.

@27th;reading your bible now are you... the way forward is to scout for potential in ple.

@feather;i know that feeling. But when it comes to thinking cute,i look at the rugby pitch or bako court.Never considered footballers hot.

@cb; i know i know, infact i must say you inspired me to blog.It seemed such a hard thing to get guts to post.
naye you buy your own drinks...
